Inspiration

One of our team members, Michael, is currently planning a move to California in February. One of the biggest struggles when moving is, of course, housing. We wanted to make something that could help ease some of this stress and provide an optimized living experience with more free time and less commute time.

What it does

This app takes the user's input of their commute location, max commute time, and budget to find nearby housing options ranked utilizing AI.

How we built it

We build this using AWS and React.

Challenges we ran into

So many challenges! Making all of the various AWS components work together proved to be a struggle but with a lot Google searching and attempts we were able to get most of it working!

I worked on both the front end and back end. I focused mainly on the location services and map. For my backend contributions, I created two lambda functions that utilized AWS location service to convert addresses into coordinates and then compare coordinates to create an estimated route time. In the front end, I created the map interface that is then used to display the data being generated from everyone’s sections.
