Inspiration 💡

My inspiration for NeighborNest comes from a deep-seated desire to address the critical needs of my local community. I've witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by my neighbors and I believe in the power of community support. The idea behind NeighborNest was born out of my commitment to create a better, more inclusive environment for all.

What it does 🚀

NeighborNest is a comprehensive online resource hub designed to help local communities "Find, Connect, Thrive." It's a one-stop platform where individuals and families can access vital information and support in various categories, including food banks, shelters, educational resources, job opportunities, healthcare and legal aid. This digital resource center aims to empower community members by providing them with the tools they need to improve their lives.

How I built it 🛠️

The creation of NeighborNest involved my design and development skills. I leveraged design tools like Canva for branding, user interface and visuals. I meticulously compiled a database of local resources, ensuring their accuracy and relevance. With a user-centric approach, I designed and developed a user-friendly website that simplifies the process of accessing critical resources.

Challenges I ran into 🧗‍♀️

Throughout the development process, I encountered several challenges, including data collection complexities, design consistency, and the need for accessibility. These challenges pushed me to think creatively and problem-solve effectively. I addressed data issues through extensive research and verification, ensuring that users can rely on accurate information. For design consistency, I refined my branding materials to create a cohesive look and feel. Accessibility was a priority, and I worked to ensure that NeighborNest is usable for everyone, including individuals with disabilities.
