Inspiration
Just the city of Madurai (A Tier-2 City in India) alone generates:
450 Tonnes of Solid Waste out of which 64% i.e. 288 Tonnes are Domestic Waste per day! 6 Tonnes of Plastic needs to be sorted out and disposed every day. 2 Tonnes of Glass, Metal and Rubber needs to be sorted out and recycled every day. And a whopping 282 Tonnes of Food, Fruits, Vegetables and Fish Waste that needs to be converted into compost every 24 hours. With Technology, all of this, could not only be made more efficient but also profitable in some ways.
What it does
An Image Classification API that’ll identify the type of the solid waste and stores the data in a warehouse + An Analytics Dashboard, that visualises the data for extracting information based on the Analytics = Smart Solid Waste Management Module
How we built it
We used the technologies of Image Classification, Computer Vision, Internet of Things, Data Mining and Data Visualization in our Project to effectively achieve our goal of Smart Solid Waste Management System.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of proper data and dataset was quite challenging, yet we did our fair bit of research to simulate the actual scenario as accurate as possible.
What's next for Eco++
Real-Life Testing of our Project will be the next step for Eco++. We could iterate from the learnings we get from that.
