Inspiration

Coming to college, on your own for the first time in a new environment, can be very isolating and confusing. Inspired by the comforting vibes from the Little Prince, we wanted to create an app that reassured people that they are not alone and that everything would be alright.

What it does

myPlanet is a mental health app aimed to help college students with feelings of isolation in a new environment by setting up well-being tasks and connecting with others. Users are first presented with their own barren planet that they can gradually fill with plants and landscape features by completing daily well-being exercises. Users are also able to add friends and visit their planets.

How I built it

We followed the Design Timeline to Complete this Project

  • Figma: WireFrames and HighFidelity Designs
  • Procreate: 2D illustrations

Challenges I ran into

Due to the short time constraint, there were many features that we were unable to implement. The 2D illustrations could have been refined. We also had to split our time with illustrating and designing, so we were not able to illustrate as many graphics as we would have like. For instance, we were not able to complete the onboarding procress due to the time constraint, but we plan on coming back to it in the future.

What I learned

  • learned how to successfully create seamless navigations using Figma through the app that created an immersive user experience.
  • learned how to create a simple, concise branding for an app.
  • learned to prioritize simple, yeet engaging designs
  • learned that the the design process is iterative : it might involve repeating steps, and making improvements along the way to reach the most effective solution.

What's next for myPlanet

We hope to further carry this design onto the onboarding process. We want to give the users a personalized experience and give them more features for customization.
