Inspiration
Struggling with a hackathon concept made our team realize the importance of gathering inspiration and connecting ideas. This led us to further research products in the market that are aimed towards this space, and we found many pain points that made the process less efficient, including an influx of onboarding processes, new tools, and distracting interfaces.
In many cases, people use multiple platforms to gather various kinds of inspiration ranging from Pinterest, Notes, etc. This inspired our team to create a product that addresses these pain points and make a more user-friendly experience for collecting ideas on one platform.
What it does
Myos is a very efficient moodboarding app which lets users attach various files ranging from images, audios, and drawings, all through flexible formats such as drag-and-drop, copy+paste, and uploading local files. Users can organize the files into groups to create a “gallery” of inspiration for your various projects or moodboarding-related needs.
Myos adopts a DO NOW, WORRY LATER framework. This means no UI distractions, no templates, and no onboarding pop-ups in your face every few seconds. Myos emphasizes focus, structure, and reduce in clutter through a clean and intuitive UI, letting users get to their work right away.
How we built it
We designed our product on Figma and prototyped it’s key interactions. A ReactJS frontend was made to implement a file upload function and a display gallery.
Challenges we ran into
It was hard for our team to think of an idea for the hackathon, and due to time constraints, the end product wasn’t the plan we went in with. We weren’t ready for the lack of energy that comes with in-person hackathons! That being said, we really tried to hone in on any pain points that we personally deal with to understand how we can make them more efficient.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite our challenges, our team pulled through and managed to submit a project. For many of us, this was also our first in-person hackathon! Numerous skills were gained and put to use, with everyone learning a lot and getting the most out of HTN.
What we learned
Thinking of an idea can be very challenging and it is best to think of an idea beforehand. For some of us, this was the first in-person or the first ever hackathon we attended, and it was a really eye-opening and rewarding experience.
What's next for Myos
Next, we’d finish the functionalities for creating new folders/groups, sorting the content by tags, and saving everything with a database or using localstorage.
