Inspiration

We all know what it's like to arrive on campus the first time. That's why we wanted to design a resource that can answer many different questions about a college. Users can search for locations, clubs, events, student services, all in one application running on a kiosk inside every building.

What it does

myCollegeHub is able to provide detailed information about buildings on campus including step-by-step directions, with a map API from OpenStreetMap. Major campus events are posted to the app, which students can see and get details. This kiosk system can be installed and can operate in multiple buildings across campus, allowing for easy access to services for all students at all times.

How we built it

The major UI components and design were created using Figma. Search functionality is provided by a python implementation of ChatGPT.

Challenges we ran into

We attempted to integrate a room reservation feature into kiosks, to allow students to search for study spaces or conference rooms. Building a custom calendar with flexible event adding was not successful.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

myCollegeHub, once fully developed and implemented, would be an innovative solution to helping new students get adapted to campus life. The design of the UI is sleek and user-friendly, and back-end development is in progress, with much potential to further advance and improve.

What we learned

The project was built on several applications, incorporating design, prototyping, and development software to ultimately produce the end result. Ensuring the process from ideation to delivery was an important task in order to create the final concept.

What's next for myCollegeHub

MyCollegeHub is a unique, efficient, and extremely supportive concept that can easily be of great assistance for newcomers (guest, new students, etc.). The future of MyCollegeHub would continuously add more features and connections with institutions to personalise the experience more effectively(ei. Onecard, account management, etc.).

Though we specifically designed this project for new coming students/guests within an academic environment, the project concept can expand further into numerous fields such as shopping malls, tourism, airports, government agencies, and other productive industries. In closing, The possibilities of MyCollegeHub exhibit significant potential in aiding newcomers, now, and in the future.
