Inspiration
With the increased importance of mental health people may not be comfortable with talking to a person. We wanted to provide people an app where they can talk about their daily lives with an AI that responds back and considers your feelings with previous chat histories, and provides you ways to improve yourself and make you feel better.
What it does
The app allows you to have conversations with an AI, you can record what you are saying in the app. As you are speaking to the AI, it actively listens to you and when it senses a break it responds back to you keeping the conversation going.
How we built it
Utilizing agentic tools such as Warp and Github Copilot, we created a backend service hosted on google cloud services and a frontend application which was developed in react native and has the ability to work cross platform.
Challenges we ran into
Audio handling across multiple platforms was challenging. Google Cloud Services was interesting problem to setup as some of the connections had to be routed internally in Google Services.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to manage our time well and keep a consistent pace throughout the hackathon.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate effectively as a team by dividing tasks according to each person’s strengths. We also learned to communicate clearly and adapt to challenges quickly to meet the submission deadline.
What's next for TalkTime
Ability to connect with irl therapists, export things like calendar events to linked calendars, reminders of events and reminders to connect with others when it has been a long time. Gamification and local hosting of the data to help with user retention and privacy of data.
