Inspiration

-Our journey began with a clear goal: to harness the power of AI in assisting lawyers and legal professionals who often find themselves sifting through extensive recordings and documents to extract relevant testimonies or quotes. We recognized the need for a tool that not only simplifies this process but also upholds the crucial aspect of privacy. Thus, Mr. Testimony was conceived – a solution that offers an option to switch to a local model for enhanced privacy.

What it does

-Mr. Testimony revolutionizes the way legal professionals interact with vast amounts of data. By utilizing advanced AI, our app provides an efficient method to transcribe, index, and search through audio and video recordings. This enables users to quickly find pertinent conversation pieces to support their legal arguments or counter opposing views.

How we built it

-Voice/Video Transcription: We integrated Assembly AI for accurate transcription of voice and video recordings. Data Storage and Indexing: Transcripts are stored in MongoDB. We then create semantic indexes for every four pieces of conversation, with each index covering up to twelve conversation pieces. Semantic Search: Users can perform semantic searches to retrieve relevant conversations. GPT-4 Integration: We incorporated GPT-4 to refine and filter the most accurate conversations relevant to the user's query.

Challenges we ran into

-Our initial trials with Whisper for voice recognition faced limitations in distinguishing between speakers. This led us to explore other options, ultimately finding that Assembly AI effectively met our specific needs.

-Developing a robust and intuitive platform that empowers legal professionals to leverage AI for efficient data analysis while maintaining privacy is our proudest achievement.

What we learned

-A key takeaway from our journey was the value of leveraging existing open-source libraries. This approach significantly accelerated our development process, allowing us to focus on creating a unique product without the need to reinvent the wheel.
