Inspiration

MpaMpe locally means 'Give Me I Give Out' in this context and we want to see financial and digital inclusion through an innovative web app. We also tackle the local community needs in Uganda, especially post-covid and we are also developing solutions toward 5 of the 17 UN SDGs to see Uganda move to a middle-income status country.

What it does

MpaMpe is a hybrid crowdfunding application that seeks to bridge the gap between the needy/beneficiaries/campaigners and funders/sponsors/donors to support their ideas through a transparent model and accountability of funds.

In Simple terms, We are a Ugandan-tailored crowdfunding modern application(business) solution. We believe MpaMpe will be at the forefront of fintech inclusion in Uganda.

How we built it

We built this solution using NodeJs and Javascript and we believe to scale it with other faster technologies like GO & Ruby with time.

Challenges we ran into

Learning and building a startup at the same time is hard! Sometimes we have had sleepless nights as a team in order to accomplish some tasks and activities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We started on MpaMpe last year when we participated in WomenIn FinTech Hackathon merging in the top 5. We were fortunate to merge in the top 50 globally under this year's Google Developer Students Challenge and among the only 4 that came from Africa in 800+ global solutions.

We also merged the top 10 in ABC Africa Blockchain Hackathon and we have recently crowned first runners-up in the MTN MoMo Hackathon. We believe MpaMpe has the ability to scale and have a great social impact.

What we learned

Embrace learning and challenges in order to succeed! We have also realized the uniqueness of a startup is vital and solving for a noble cause should keep us moving.

What's next for MpaMpe

We plan to fully launch MpaMpe next year around June and our target customers will be those that have been mainly affected by Covid 19 restrictions, the needy, the creatives, small enterprises, etc. MpaMpe will support both fiat & crypto donations for the different campaigns. We are a full team of 5 and mainly finalist students from Makerere University.
