Inspiration
We wanted to target issues regarding maternal healthcare, specifically in regard to postpartum depression (PPD). In the United States, postpartum care is often overlooked, especially in comparison to perinatal care. Furthermore, one of our teammates previously did research on PPD and found that many PPD treatments did not adequately address the component of social support prevalent in many communities.
What it does
Mother's care focuses on daily health check-ins, assigned local community groups, and has a profile page that connects health info to various doctors.
How we built it
First, we brainstormed key features of the app and translated them into paper wireframes. Then, we used our wireframes to guide us in creating high-fidelity prototypes on Figma. Finally, we transformed our designs into code (CSS).
Challenges we ran into
When we began with forming our team, we couldn't fill the role of a backend programer. We had to persevere and learn while working. And find ways to ease the process of creating our app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were very happy it came together in the end, given the time constraint. Especially competing in our first Hackathon!
What we learned
We learned how to use Visual Studio, as well as how to collaborate as a team to identify a problem and create a solution. Some members we less experienced in Figma and Visual Studio, and this served as a way to become more confident in our skills.
What's next for Mother's Care
Perfecting backend programming, and completing screen frames. And finally being able to connect with professionals to launch Mother's Care.
