Inspiration

We were surprised to find out that 81% of 11 to 17-year-olds globally aren’t getting enough exercise, according to the WHO. In the UK, many young adults aged 19-26 lack proper exercise knowledge. We wanted to change this by making fitness fun and accessible for everyone. We discovered that technology, especially augmented reality (AR), can transform boring workouts into exciting, interactive experiences. Inspired by the success of home workout equipment and digital platforms like Peloton, we saw an opportunity to integrate AR with fitness. Additionally, combining exercise with nutrition tracking is crucial for overall health.

What it does

Moov isn’t just another fitness app; it’s a new way to think about health! By mixing AR tech with workouts and nutrition tracking, we’re here to help young adults live healthier lives.

How we built it

1. Concept: We aimed to make an accessible fitness brand concept Moov and reviewed the competitors in this space
2. Design: We scoped ideas for an AR experience with real-time training data, posture feedback, and distance tracking and using Snap streaks to keep our audience coming back.
3. We developed the UI interface in Lens Studio around nutrition tracking and fitness interactions so we could test out the functionality of the project and it's limitations
4. Testing: We ran multiple tests to ensure everything was user-friendly and practical and built our presentation deck and demo.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping It Fun: Making an interface that celebrated real-time interaction and home workouts, contending with brands such as Peloton and Exercise Mirror. And not centring it around gaming as is popular with XR.

Nutrition Data: Figuring out how to smoothly capture nutritional info was challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Brainstorming and idea generation were incredibly beneficial for us, and the calibration process worked effectively. Each team member had their own area of expertise, contributing unique insights and skills. With our diverse backgrounds, we formed a strong collaborative environment that allowed us to leverage our collective strengths.

What we learned

Market Understanding • There’s a significant market demand for innovative, technology-driven fitness solutions • Young generations (Gen Z and Alpha) are more receptive to tech-integrated wellness experiences • Traditional fitness models are rapidly evolving with digital transformation

Personal Growth • Interdisciplinary collaboration drives innovation • Solving real-world health challenges requires diverse skill sets and perspectives

Health and Wellness Insights • Most young adults lack fundamental exercise and nutrition education • Technology can bridge critical gaps in health literacy • Holistic approaches combining physical activity and nutritional tracking are more effective than isolated.
