💡Inspiration💡 One of our group members grew up close to a wheelchair user. She noticed that he and his family had to work hard to find areas that could accommodate his wheelchair. This made us think about the general life of someone who has to deal with a disability, which led us to dedicate our time to helping them. We also liked the idea due to temporary disabilities such as a sprain or break, which means that our app has the ability to help everyone at least once in their lives. 🧐What it does🧐 Our app focuses on locating accessible public areas with disability accommodation. 👷‍♂️How we built it👷‍♀️ We utilized websites like Figma and MIT App Inventor to design and code our app. We first looked at Figma and created a general layout before going to MIT App Inventor and creating the app. 🚫Challenges we ran into 🚫 We had a hard time with a stable app description as well as coding on a new software. 🎉 Accomplishments that we're proud of 🎉 We are proud of our dedication to our app idea as well as our basic layout of our app that we worked hard to code. Our team worked very diligently, which was shown especially well by Gwen taking time during her spring break to watch tutorials and code our UI. Statham put in the work early into the project, researching the disability information. Nathan spent countless hours working on the video, as well as arranging meetings with our intern. Nick did much in the way of graphic design, generating beautiful material to utilize as background and scenery for our video and pitch. Jonas was exceptional when it came to coding and utilizing software to create our app. He also helped advise our other team members on using our technology and how to import and export certain items. 🤓 What we learned 🤓 We learned how to overcome disagreements or different ideas on how to approach our app. We also learned how to adapt to new coding software and the standards for an app in quality and functionality. 🔮 What's next for Mobility 🔮 We hope to apply a broader focus instead of just NC. We hope this will help benefit more people. Furthermore, we also hope to develop the app so that it accommodates more disabilities and has a social aspect to it so that our app can bring people together. In the future we would also like to begin to introduce a system that would allow users to rate locations themselves, making the app work more efficiently and expand the reach of the app beyond our abilities.
