Inspiration
We are really passionate about technology. Although hackathons are a good place for networking, most participants don't do it except for the purpose of building teams. We wanted a good platform so like minded individuals can meet potential collaborators and build good professional relationships.
What it does
Our app helps tech enthusiasts and professionals network with each other and provides opportunities to potentially collaborate among themselves. It fosters a community of like minded individuals using its features of interaction, so that users can stay connected.
How we built it
We used Express.js and Node.js for the backend of our application and MongoDB Atlas for our database. React was used for the frontend of our application. We also used mutiple frameworks like bcrypt, multer and techstack to build our application.
Challenges we ran into
The project had huge scaling so we also needed good project management skills for development and deployment. We also had a hard time integrating the frontend and backend of the application
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a MERN stack project with all the functions working as we intended to. We definitely achieved our goal of gaining technical proficiency with mutiple frameworks and also deploying our application to a hosting service.
What we learned
This was our first hands on experience with full stack development. It was definitely a good experience dealing with a NoSQL database like MongoDB.
What's next for MLH Connect
We hope to develop a chat box to allow participants to interact with organizers and engage in professional networking. We also aim to add a filter box to filter out relevant posts along with attachment of files and other media being available to the user
