Inspiration
Inspired by Spotify's auto-generated playlists based on user habits, as well as sites such as everynoise.com.
What it does
Generates songs matching a given prompt, returning ten at a time for easy listening on the webpage and giving a one-click option to turn the songs into a playlist.
How we built it
Heroku backend, Vue.js / Quasar frontend, and the freely available Spotify API.
Challenges we ran into
Authorization for Spotify ate into much of the early hours of the project work, but from there, most of the trouble was determining the most satisfying way to generate the resulting list of songs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working with an unfamiliar API, and for some team members, engaging with JavaScript for the first time.
What we learned
A little UI work goes a long way for creating a project that feels successful. Working ahead of the crunch to set up an idea and the necessary tools would have created a lot more room to expand on features that were theorized but not implemented.
What's next for MixifyMe
Improvements in its language processing, alongside a more thorough and wide-reaching searching method for suitable songs.
