Inspiration
The pandemic has forced students to self-manage their time, and it has been a struggle for everyone. Mindflow is here to help.
What it does
Using the pomodoro technique, we help people be more productive with the way they work.
How I built it
Chrome extension app, using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Challenges I ran into
Although remote hackathons make the event more accessible, we found that it was harder to foster a sense of motivation and togetherness. The in-person hackathon environment normally brings excitement that translates into motivation, so with SLO Hack Lite we had to do a little more of self-motivation. In terms of technical challenges, our engineers had a hard time with learning and implementing the app we designed. The designed interface was much more complex than what we could build in a 24 hour hackathon. It would have benefited us to plan ahead considering the time constraints.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We followed a complete design process and built a beautiful high fidelity prototype. Our design team generated two different UI's to compare and combine their strengths into one design, which resulted in a clean, usability-focused interface.
What we learned
Remote collaboration introduced some challenges, but with transparent communication, it allowed us to create something special. In a typical undergrad curriculum, we rarely have the chance to collaborate in cross-disciplinary groups, and this hackathon was a great way to experience the possibilities of a cross-disciplinary team.
What's next for Mindflow
With the thorough prototype developed by our designers, our engineers will continue building our app to get up to speed with our design vision.
