This project was inspired by the energy and community of old-school freestyle cyphers, where creativity felt raw, tangible, and connected. We learned how crucial real-time interaction and environment are to recreating that authentic feeling in a digital space. We built our project by brainstorming features that encourage collaboration, hype, and feedback, focusing on ways to make users feel like they’re physically sharing a space. In the application, users experience rotating mics, mixtape creations, and live reactions. One of the biggest challenges we faced was balancing the excitement of live performances with the need for a smooth, simple user experience, especially as we moved away from ideas like selling mixtapes to stay true to the app’s open, collaborative spirit.
