Inspiration

Taking inspiration from the likes of weChat and Grab, we decided to create a cross platform(web, android, IOS) app that competes with the existing super app giants in Africa and add features that is lacking in the existing giants, to that regardWe created an app that incorporates Health , fitness, fin-tech, eCommerce and last-mile delivery.

The MeWorld app idea was ultimately conceived in order to help bridge the gap between health assistants and their patience as well as making payment for health ease and also to create an environment that lets creates a low barrier of entry and encourage local participation.

What it does:

Our App is a one stop shop for all things: health, fitness, money transfer, sports and dispatch. It contains the following sections and features:

As a customer, you can:

Search for sports events within your area, this is done so as to create a platform for people to easily find sporting events and it promotes participation
join live stream of sporting events such as football matches by people currently there. This feature also encourages local participation.
Indicate interest in joining female-only event. According to research, one of the major reasons why there are less women participating in sports in Africa is due to availability, so incorporated this features so as to give the women a safe haven so that they can indicate interest in a particular event, and others women that are interested in joining them would be notified so that a ‘women-only’ event can be created.
Create new sports event such as one-off football matches where users can select from the available sports locations that are registered on the platform. By doing this, users would pay for booking of the location and purchase of equipments which can be seen from the Ecommerce section of the centre they are interested in booking.
Search and hire Health consultants, artisans and freelancers, this creates one-on-one video call sessions where users can engage with the experts that have been hired for the session.
Search, book/subscribe to gyms, users would be notified when the time is close-by and ride-sharing feature would be suggested for those within the area going to the same location.

Set prices and enable subscriptions to sections of your store
Add an Ecommerce section to your business As a health consultant, you can prescribe drugs, and have meetings with clients, the app provides a seamless way for the drugs to be delivered to the client using one of the available pharmacies and delivery service. This vertical integration enables overall price to be lower and so therefore makes it cheaper for the customer.

Consult with gym instructors and nutritionist to help you achieve you desired body and health goals Make gym subscription, one time payments, for gym per day, etc. For consultants and gym owners, you would be able to view all appointments and confirm/cancel appointments, see reviews, change booking availability.

Get Nutritionists’ meals suggestions. Your nutritionist can suggest one from cooks who have sponsored spots, where they pay us a premium in order to be recommended to people seeking cooks, and have it delivered to you. You can pay a personal shopper to get groceries for you Book a ride with other people going to the same direction or event as you are. Community live Chatting system to discuss ongoing (while live streaming) or discuss organisation of an event and also chat with other people registered on the app in general. How we built it

Rapyd wallet was used to facilitate all in app payments, google firebase was used as the database of choice, algolia was used for full text based search, agora.io platform was used for real time communication (video and text chat, livestreams). Google maps was used for the mapping and location tracking, node.js was used for the backend, flutter for the front end, and the web app is hosted on netlify
