Inspiration
We used Google classroom as an inspiration for our topic. We also used reddit and discord for a certain aspect of the product.
What it does
It makes joining MESA and interacting with MESA participants easier. It also has a much simpler sign-up process (with resources and links page) for starters and an upcoming events page to remind you of joinable events. It even consists of a page where there is MESA forums for people to establish their work and ask questions. It even has a chat option restricted to users in your school, so you can make teams with ease.
How we built it
We used a visual workspace called Whimsical, to create a mock-up of our application. We used aspects of Reddit, Discord, and Google Classroom to construct the mock-up.
Challenges we ran into
Distractions was a major problem in the early stages of the hackathon. When we all met up, it was hard to focus (we had some nerf war fights along the way). But soon enough we realized we needed to get work done, so we became productive. Also, we had a problem with timing and coordination when working online. We all had to log on at a certain time and some of us had events to attend to.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the way the product turned out, and the fact that this is our first hackathon. We believe that our product has potential to deliver great satisfaction and look stunning visually.
What we learned
We learned as a team to accept each other's ideas and embrace them. When we embrace each other, the finished product is much more diverse and reaches out to more consumers successfully.
What's next for MESA Connect
If our mock-up receives a lot of positive feedback, we plan to make MESA Connect a reality (coding it).
