Inspiration

My inspiration for the project was when I played Mario when I was a child. I loved playing the game and it was very fun for me. So, I created this game to generate the same type of nostalgia and fun that I get from playing Mario.

What it does

The game is a traditional runner like Mario. The main character of the game is called the rain man because I am a huge tom cruise fan. The character has basic functions like to jump, to move, and shooting. The character gains points as it defeats the monsters runner towards him, in order to do so it can shoot or jump over the monster.

How we built it

I built the application using Unity. I used sprites, animating tools, audio tools, pencil line tools, C#, etc, to build the game.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into a few challenges when incorporating sound to my game. Also, when I was creating the designs for the character, they weren't that good so I took a few designs from the community assets for the background and the character's skin.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of the fact that my little 8-year-old brother really enjoyed playing the game, and he looked just like me when I played Mario. This is my biggest accomplishment other than creating a 2D game by myself.

What we learned

I learned that game development is so much more than coding and animation. It is about creating an experience that lasts forever as mine did with Mario.

What's next for Megarunrainman

I will try to create more levels for the game. If you have played the game: eggnogg, you might have an idea about their extravagant-looking game levels. I want to do something similar to that, and probably publish the game.
