Inspiration

The HackNYU event was all of our first hackathon, first time teaming up, and first time creating any kind of health related project. We thought of many ideas but we finalized on doing something to make an good impact on others using our tech skills.

What it does

This project is for users to learn about their general symptoms with the help of an AI assistant. Additionally along with an AI assistant this project provides local areas for users to find health centers nearby!

How we built it

We used React.js (HTML/CSS/Javascript) as the framework for our web app. We used multiple api's such as the google maps API and Text Search API to create a software to find local health centers nearby! Along with openAI API for the "Ask AI" feature that allows users to get assistance on learning about any symptom or of their own symptoms and gives feedback on the severity of it.

Challenges we ran into

We had a variety of API's that came together in our project but the Text Search API was one challenged our project production.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is our first hackathon at NYU and our first time working together as a group under a short amount of time. We are proud of the fact that we came into this project with an idea and we ended up with the same idea as a working web app in our screens.

What we learned

We learned more about React.js and about how to work with API's and connect backend and frontend development along with consider how we can make the project solve a real world problem.

What's next for MediSync

For next steps we would like to consider developing an mobile app version for this project along with expanding our functionality such as functionalities for checking healthcare insurance eligibility.
