Inspiration
MediScan was inspired by the need for healthcare tools that are simple, clear, and easy to use — especially for people in underserved communities. We wanted to help anyone, anywhere, feel more confident about their health, by giving them tools to understand their symptoms and find help nearby.
What it does
MediScan is like a smart health assistant that helps users check their symptoms. You can talk to it using text, voice, or pictures. Powered by Gemini AI, it looks at the symptoms, suggests what might be going on, and tells you what steps you should take — like self-care, seeing a doctor, or visiting a pharmacy. MediScan also explains medication side effects, whether a prescription is needed, and helps users find nearby clinics and pharmacies in real-time.
How we built it
We used artificial intelligence and machine learning to power MediScan’s symptom analysis. Natural language processing helps it understand different ways people describe their health problems. The interface was built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, designed to be simple, clear, and easy for anyone to use.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was making sure the AI gave helpful and accurate answers. In the early stages, it often got things wrong or gave no answer at all. After a lot of testing, debugging, and an all-nighter, we were able to improve the logic and create a version that gives better, clearer results.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we created an easy-to-use health tool that helps people understand their symptoms and find the right care. MediScan makes healthcare more approachable and helps people make smart choices about their health.
What we learned
We learned how AI and web development can work together to solve real-life problems. We also learned how important it is to share clear and correct health information, especially when people are worried about their symptoms.
What's next for MediScan AI
We want to make MediScan even smarter by improving its AI and adding new features like video calls with doctors. Our future plan is to work with clinics and pharmacies to bring MediScan into real-world healthcare, so it can help people in everyday life.
