Inspiration
Our team was assembled based on a shared passion to apply XR technologies to mental heallth challenges. Consequently, the project inspiration came after some research through: [ Autism Eating Habits: a Health Overview & Tips for Parents Eating - a Guide For all Audiences ATN/AIR-P Guide to Exploring Feeding Behavior in Autism ] where we got more insights about the picky-eating behaviour of autistic individuals, peculiar sensory preferences, the importance of establishing mealtime routines, and a reward system. We also discovered that there is a limitation to existing apps in terms of providing an engaging application that tailors the user experience to both caregivers and individuals with ASD.
What it does
Maunch Time is an immersive AR application that aims to tackle the nutritional challenges experienced by individuals with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) while working in synergy with the caregiver's side of the application. The resulting system features an engaging application with a robust meal recommendation system, which fosters productivity by encouraging users to adhere to meal time routines.
What we learned
From this project, we learned that the solution is not necessarily straight-forward and that on deployment of the application for testing, we have to be ready to make room for feedback from target users.
What's next for Maunch Time
We aim to fully develop this prototype, as we strongly believe in its potential to impact the target audience's nutritional wellbeing.
