Inspiration
We met up and got to know each other more. While we were chatting about ourselves, we drifted to talking about movies, music, games to streamers, artists, etc. one thing led to another... based off our conversations that we were inspired by, we came up with MatchYa!, a site that provides content creators with a way to find out about their strengths and find compatible collaborators.
What it does
Our platform helps content creators discover their ideal style and find like-minded collaborators through personality-based matching and content recommendations. To use our website, a user must make an account as well as take a quiz to determine what kind of content creator they are and their personality. Using this information, we provide a search/recommendation to find users with similar characteristics, which can help users determine what kind of content they want to make, and a search for finding collaborators for specific roles ranked by personality compatibility.
How we built it
We used Next.js to create the front end and back end. We used a lot of HTML and CSS for the front end (plus we designed images), and on the backend we used Auth0 for secure authentication and Redis cloud for easy key-value NoSQL data storage.
Challenges we ran into
Some of us had never used JS, react.js, node.js, next.js, and installing and working with a group of people in Github, time constraints, and being new in general.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of learning new technologies and working towards building a quality product as a team. We're also fond of the visual design and theme we came up with, which was inspired by the beverage known as the Matcha tea/latte.
What we learned
We learned new languages/software/how to work with others etc.
What's next for MatchYa!
If we had more time, we would polish the website and implement the full search engine.
