Inspiration

Our team members are in love with matcha and find comfort in similar cooking games we played in our childhood; Cooking Mama and Papa's franchise! We thought it would be a great idea to combine these too comforting elements and came up with a game that we hope will bring others ease in times of stress.

What it does

Matcha Maker allows users to emulate the experience of making matcha drinks without the hassle or expenses. Through a series of different steps, players can make their own matcha and make choices like picking a type of milk!

How we built it

We used a variety of Frontend and Backend tools in the making of Matcha Maker. For coding, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React. For our graphics, we used the program "LibreSprite" to create pixel-like designs for all of our elements; background, items, and buttons.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we had a lot more features and customizations planned for the game, but due to time issues we had to cut down a lot of these ideas and focus on functionality. We also had to juggle with software issues preventing from working on the code for a significant amount of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As mentioned, we faced a big hurdle with the program not working towards the end of the time given. For this, we're very proud that we pushed through as a team and worked together to finish the task at hand. It's also notable to mention that many of us haven't had a lot of experience with hackathons, so we all played a part in learning new things, hustling, and supporting each other through this journey.

What we learned

We learned the value of having a group of hard working people who don't turn at the face of challenges, as well as all of the new tools we learned to use throughout.

What's next for Matcha Maker

In the future, we would love to keep developing Matcha Maker to include all of the features we had in mind, adding toppings, choices of utensils, adding music and sound effects, allowing the user to take a pdf copy of their drink creation, and many more! Furthermore we would love to some day launch Matcha Maker as an app or website.
