Inspiration

I was inspired by the Bob Ross painting session at this hackathon to combine art, the spirit of nature conservancy, and technology.

What it does

Using Unity and Vuforia Engine, this augmented reality Android app shows a map of all nature preserves in the United States. This virtual display is associated with a hand-painted marker image in the real world.

Challenges we ran into

I spent several hours trying to get the app to build on my phone after a Unity update disrupted the earlier compatibility with my Android version.

What's next for marmalade

Making the map of nature preserves more interactive would be a fantastic next step to advance awareness about environmental stewardship issues across the country.
