Inspiration
We were inspired by LEGO manuals and their easy yet informational step-by-step instructions.
What it does
Manny is a DIY personal assistant that can help simplify any and all DIY projects. Manny can help you find materials, their prices, and then generate an easy step-by-step manual so simple that anyone can follow.
How we built it
We started with Figma to design a structure and the basic elements of the web application. We then used AWS and Firebase Cloud Storage to search for material prices and then store those prices.
Challenges we ran into
We found some difficulty in initially setting up the Gemini API, but after some help, we were able to successfully connect.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our flip book design. We believe it is a good balance between interactability and simplicity. When we first began development, the feasibility of our project was questionable; we couldn't tell if it was even possible. Despite this, we collaborated and were able to get a project that completed our vision.
What we learned
Teams can only be successful if you work together. It’s important to recognize each other's strengths and weaknesses and work together to balance them out into a cohesive team environment.
What's next for Manny
Manny could benefit from several different features, a toggle for cheaper or “luxury” materials. As well as the ability to create video demos of each step.
