Our team has chosen to tackle the second problem statement under the Giving Back theme.
Whilst Singapore is considered a developed nation, there are still many who are less fortunate than others. How can we embrace inclusivity and integrate people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalised?
About
WeConnect is a Telegram Bot which aims to connect the average Singaporeans with people from hidden communities. The people we meet are often restricted to our environments, such as our schools or workplaces. We usually only get to learn about these hidden communities from a third-person perspective (eg. documentaries and other people’s experiences). This platform hopes to give Singaporeans the opportunity to have personal interactions with the different communities in Singapore. We hope that this can help to develop a culture of inclusivity and bring awareness to communities that are hidden or excluded from society.
How we built it
WeConnect was built using Python Telegram Bot API to implement our telegram bot and MongoDB as our database.
Challenges we ran into
As it was our first time using the Telegram Bot API and MongoDB, we had a lot of difficulties implementing the program.
