Project Overview: m-AI-ker

Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea of turning everyday objects into creative tools for kids. With so many materials around them, we wanted to create a way for children to discover fun activities and projects without needing to buy anything new.

What it does

m-AI-ker scans pictures of a child's room and identifies everyday items they can use for fun DIY projects. It then provides step-by-step instructions on how to create something exciting using those items, turning idle time into a creative adventure.

How we built it

We used AI and image recognition technology to develop a system that can identify common household items from pictures. The website was built using modern web development tools, integrating the AI with a user-friendly interface to ensure the experience is seamless and engaging for kids.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was accurately identifying various objects in the pictures, especially when lighting or angles were not ideal. We also had to ensure that the instructions generated were simple enough for kids to follow without adult supervision. We were also unable to run the AI without incurring costs that we could not afford.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of how the website looks. It’s visually appealing, easy to navigate, and mostly functional. The seamless integration of AI technology into a fun, educational tool is something we’re particularly excited about.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned a lot about AI and image scanning technologies. We gained valuable insights into how AI can be used creatively to enhance everyday experiences, especially for children.

What's next for m-AI-ker

Next, we plan to complete the product by refining the website, ensuring it’s fully functional, and ironing out any errors. We’ll also continue to enhance the AI’s accuracy and explore new ways to make the experience even more engaging for kids.
