Our Inspiration

“I don’t want the conversation to be awkward”. “I want to network, but feel anxious”. These are real pain points for those who want to participate in networking events, but struggle to make the right connections or start conversations. These problems resonated with our team, and we knew there was a better way to enhance real-time networking events using spatial experiences.

What is LYNQ

TL;DR

LYNQ generates a curated list of connections, in the form of interactive cards, for public events. Using AI, LYNQ find the best professional match your personal and career interests, and suggests ice breakers that spark meaningful conversation.

How It Works

LYNQ collects a list of connections who will be, or are currently at a networking event. Using AI, LYNQ generates a curated list of people with shared personal and professional interests. Using the “blind-box” concept, users are given a random potential connection from this generated list, in the form of a digital interactive card.

These ‘LYNQ’ cards allow connections to start even before a physical meetup begins. Users can learn more about a connection, and are suggested ice breakers that would help start conversations. After two users signal they want to meet up, each user is navigated to a safe meetup point using a palm-based navigator.

Developing LYNQ

We built this using Lens Studio, TypeScript, and Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Much of our initial idea was around the user of a shared connection between two Spectacle devices. This included positional ice breakers and P2P networking games. We realized quickly that these features were a bit tricky to test without two sets of Specs.

Being a remote team all in different time zones brought it's own challenges, but we got through it!

Accomplishments

Each team member was fairly new to Lens Studio, specifically when it came to developing for the Spectacles. We're so proud of what we did in under 2 weeks!

What We Learned

EVERYTHING

What's Next for LYNQ

  • Multiple ice breakers
  • Live suggestions on what to say
  • Take away collectable memory card based on conversation
  • Air Balloons for spatial topics
  • Have more detailed and personalised user profiles that help connect people from different/same countries and specific needs (like if someone is looking for a Co-Founder/Designer/Mentor/Investor, etc)
