Inspiration
We all struggled in the past to find good tutoring. From Learning JS all the way to taking a Chem course, we could never find anything reliable and affordable. This led us to make a difference
What it does
Luminaris uses user inputs to make a custom course to help the user with any struggles they have in any subject. It is a free AI tutor that is the future of learning.
How we built it
We used React framework to make the web app. We used Google Gemini's API to implement AI and we used several different coding languages such as JSX and CSS. We also used Vite, which is a modern Java Script build tool.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into were that we couldnt show the results of our AI, which led to many problems. Also, one of our strongest team members had to leave early due to religious reasons. In the last 30 minutes, with our app still not working, we started panicking.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some Accomplishments we are proud of are that we were able to make a web app that implements AI while all of us are growing freshmen who still don't know much about coding. Another thing we are proud of us how our idea solves a real world problem and has the potential to help hundreds of millions of families.
What we learned
Some things we learned include:
- How to implement AI and other Ai APIS
- how to make a descriptive presentation that show cases our product
- how to work under pressure and on a time crunch
- how to work as a team and split work
- how to plan and design a coding project
- how to uses Vite and other build tools.
What's next for Luminaris
In the future, we plan to include several more features and components that could help Luminaris grow even more. We want to have people be able to actually make their own courses or teach their own classes straight through our app. Our goal is to make Luminaris the future of learning.
