LUMI :)

Inspiration

The inspiration for LUMI draws from the success of a water tracker concept. I observed that real-time progress tracking significantly increases user engagement and commitment. Applying this principle to personal finance, we aimed to address the challenge of financial tracking—a task most people know they should do but often neglect due to its perceived complexity.

In my own experience, I noticed a pattern where I tend to overspend, convincing myself that I have more money than I actually do. Forgetting what I spent throughout the week led to financial surprises. Inspired by the simplicity and effectiveness of a water tracker, I create LUMI as a solution to make financial tracking easy, intuitive, and accessible for everyone.

The artistic decisions behind LUMI were heavily influenced by the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli. Inspired by their ability to infuse magic into everyday moments, we sought to bring the same sense of fun and excitement to what might be considered 'boring' concepts like personal finance. Our goal is to create an experience that resonates with users on a personal and emotional level, making financial tracking a delightful and engaging journey.

What it does

LUMI simplify the process that many find cumbersome. It acts as a personal finance companion that tracks and sums up all expenses throughout the week. Users can easily visualize their spending patterns through intuitive graphs, gaining immediate insights into their financial habits. This real-time display fosters a sense of awareness, empowering users to make informed decisions about their spending.

How we built it

LUMI is crafted using the Flutter framework to provide a seamless experience across both Android and iOS platforms. Data stored locally using Hive. Assets from Lottie.

Challenges we ran into

Ideation was the hardest challenge as there are already so many information, resources and hack out there.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of our proudest accomplishments with LUMI is successfully bringing a touch of Studio Ghibli's magic into the realm of personal finance. The combination of creative design and practical functionality has resulted in an app that not only helps users manage their finances but also brings a smile to their faces.

What we learned

The development of LUMI provided invaluable lessons in bridging the gap between a simple user experience and the complexities of financial tracking. We learned that technology can play a crucial role in transforming a seemingly arduous task into a manageable and even enjoyable process. The feedback loop with users has been instrumental in shaping LUMI's features and ensuring its relevance in addressing real-world challenges.
