About

Lucky Money is a mobile game that familiarizes players with the Chinese culture while collecting in-app currencies.

Influence

Due to the recent rise of AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islanders) hate crimes, we aimed to share our experiences as an American-born Chinese on our culture, hoping it will spread cultural awareness, diversity, and acceptance.

Objective of the Game

Players are challenged to catch the falling money bags off the tree to earn a high score within a limited time. The high score will be converted to in-app currency to allow players to purchase power-ups to assist their rounds in the game.

Learning

The team’s learning experience: It was the first time for the team to design a game. Our challenge in designing the game was coming up with methods that will retain user’s attention and interest in the game.

Next Steps for Lucky Money

Players will be able to log-in daily to receive a rare special currency to be used to purchase downloadable content to keep user retention rates high. Downloadable content will include the options to change the appearances of the background and money bags.

Through close collaboration and sponsorships, the game will allow the players to turn the currency from the game to be used towards donating to a cause.
