Inspiration

Our inspiration for Lucidity came from the growing need to support employee mental health and engagement in the workplace. Many employees struggle to express their feelings at work, and management often lacks insights into team sentiment. We wanted to bridge this gap by leveraging AI and data analytics to create a platform that fosters better communication and workplace well-being.

What it does

Lucidity analyzes emails that employees send as well as messages through Webex using an AI chatbot, Employee Helper, that responds with mental health tips and feedback. Additionally, management benefits from being able to view Engagement, Team Happiness Index, and Team Emotions based on employee interactions. Management can also use an AI chatbot, Lucidbot, to provide insight into employee sentiments.

A unique feature of Lucidity is its computer vision integration, which allows employers to assess employee engagement during video calls. This helps organizations foster a more supportive workplace by understanding employees’ emotions in real time.

How we built it

  • Used React and Vite for the frontend (management dashboard).
  • Integrated Gmail API to analyze emails after encountering challenges with Outlook APIs.
  • Developed AI-powered chatbots to assist employees and provide sentiment analysis for management.
  • Implemented computer vision models to assess engagement levels during video meetings.
  • Utilized Tailwind CSS for styling and UI components.

Challenges we ran into

  • API Restrictions: Initially invested time in integrating Outlook’s APIs but hit paywalls, forcing us to switch to the Gmail API.
  • Tech Stack Decisions: Figured out the best technologies to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Tailwind CSS & Vite Struggles: Faced an initial learning curve but eventually improved our implementation.
  • API Authentication Issues: Encountered challenges with client secret keys while making API calls.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully developed and integrated three different forms of AI/ML into Lucidity.
  • Built a comprehensive management dashboard that provides deep insights into employee well-being.
  • Seamlessly integrated multiple APIs, including the Gmail API, to enhance functionality.
  • Adapted quickly to new technologies and worked with unfamiliar tech stacks productively.
  • Engaged with ADP representatives, gaining insights into their existing communication tools.

What we learned

  • Gained knowledge about ADP's communication platforms and how they can be enhanced with AI.
  • Learned how to effectively integrate AI chatbots with enterprise platforms.
  • Improved skills in Tailwind CSS and optimized our use of Vite for frontend development.

What's next for Lucidity

  • Exploring ADP’s existing tools to integrate Lucidity seamlessly.
  • Expanding employee sentiment analysis by categorizing data based on different teams (e.g., contractors, engineering teams, etc.).
  • Enhancing computer vision capabilities to provide deeper insights into workplace engagement.
  • Refining AI chatbots to offer more personalized feedback to employees.

Lucidity is just the beginning—our vision is to create a smarter, healthier, and more engaged workplace powered by AI!
