Inspiration

We were inspired by a current pandemic situation which has been highly influential on our lives. The game looks at the situation from a different point of view. Point of view of a cop. We would like to raise awareness of how following the rules is crucial to stopping the spread of the virus.

What it does

We find ourselves in a role of a cop trying to control the situation in the LockTown - locked down Town. Despite the all restrictions, owners of the shops are breaking the rules, opening their shops and making the cop's work harder.

Persona

Name: John Michael Kernel Age: 20 Interests: music, sports, videogames Fan of casual games or indie single-player games with a good story.

How we built it

We used Godot Engine with GDScript language.

Challenges we ran into

First project with a new technology is always hard.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of designing and making most of our textures. MVP contains the basic functionality of the game.

What we learned

Starting with no experience, we learned everything throughout the process. GDScript language seemed like a right choice with its python-like syntax and begginer friendly environment.

What's next for LockTown

We had a bunch of ideas for LockTown from the very first moment. We would like to implement these pandemic restriction to be monitored in the future:

  • Adding people with no masks, so the cop must find and fine them
  • Implementing boost for the cop's spriting, or decreasing corona counter
  • Night level - going out after 8PM forbidden
  • Calling reinforcements to help punishing inappropriate behavior
  • Getting the hell out of the infected city
