a. What is the problem your solution addresses?
LockIn addresses the anxiety, pressure, and loss of focus athletes often experience in the waiting period before competition. Even when physically prepared, many athletes struggle with racing thoughts, self-doubt, and physical symptoms like chest tightness or shaky hands right before a game or tournament. Most existing wellness tools are too generic, too slow, or not designed for the specific emotional needs of athletes in high-pressure moments. As a result, athletes are often left without quick, relevant support when they need it most. This can hurt confidence, mental readiness, and performance. LockIn focuses on this overlooked pre-game gap by helping athletes manage stress, regulate their body, and feel more grounded throughout the days leading up to competition and especially in the final moments before stepping in.
b. Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?
We chose this solution because athletes need support that feels immediate, personal, and built around real competition moments. Our prototype begins with onboarding, where the athlete enters their upcoming game date, making the experience feel specific rather than generic. The home screen acts as a pre-game dashboard with tools like visualization training, body check-ins, best moments, urgent support, and notes from coaches. Visualization helps athletes mentally rehearse success through personalized prompts, while best moments and supportive reminders build confidence and calm. Body check-ins help users identify where stress shows up physically and guide them to targeted support like muscle release. On D-Day, LockIn offers a quick emotional check-in and recommends the most helpful next step, helping athletes feel grounded, focused, and ready to compete.
