About the Project

LocalMatch is a mobile application designed to connect local businesses and consumers in Victoria de Durango, Mexico. The platform helps users discover restaurants, cafés, and services through an interactive and engaging experience while giving local businesses greater visibility.

Inspiration

The project was inspired by the need to support small local businesses that often struggle to compete with large chains and delivery platforms. Our goal was to create a modern solution that encourages users to explore and support businesses within their community.

How We Built It

LocalMatch was developed as a cross-platform application using React Native and Expo. Navigation is managed through Expo Router, separating user and business-owner experiences. The app features an interactive swipe-based discovery system, onboarding flows tailored to different user types, business profiles, product catalogs, and map integrations for easy location access.

Challenges We Faced

One of the main challenges was designing an experience that worked for both customers and business owners while keeping the interface simple and intuitive.

What We Learned

Through this project, we gained experience in cross-platform mobile development, navigation management, UI optimization, map integrations, and creating seamless onboarding experiences for different types of users.
