We wanted to support small businesses in our daily lives

What it does

LocalMaps is a search web app that allows the user find local businesses.

How we built it

We built it using the Google Maps API and then used Gemini to filter small, family-run businesses. It uses a FasAPI Backend and a React frontend along with a SQLite database

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time building a full stack project from scratch

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The web-app is fully functional

What we learned

We understand the data flow and user flow of a full-stack application

What's next for LocalMaps

We want to build it as an extension of Google Maps
