Inspiration

Our project sprang from a desire to empower economically disadvantaged individuals by providing them with access to small-scale loans. We sought to eliminate the red tape typically associated with traditional lending such as exhaustive credit checks and prolonged application processes that disproportionately impacts the less privileged. Our aim is to dismantle the financial barriers in the lending space while ensuring the system remains trustworthy and legitimate.

What it does

LoanLendz facilitates a peer-to-peer lending network that connects people who are prepared to offer loans with those in urgent need of financial assistance. By bringing together lenders and borrowers, we ensure that individuals seeking modest sums through microloans can secure funds without encountering economic hurdles.

How we built it

We created this web application with the capabilities of ReactJS for the frontend and Firebase for backend services.

Challenges we ran into-

We grappled with the lack of robust backend services that could offer identity verification without hefty costs, and we faced an insufficient amount of documentation for our chosen technologies. Moreover, there was uncertainty about the feasibility of creating a sufficient number of pages within the limited time frame of a hackathon. Additionally, we encountered formatting hurdles due to CSS glitches that emerged when merging code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take pride in successfully developing a solid backend infrastructure that seamlessly aligns with a sleek, user-centric frontend, ensuring a smooth experience for our users.

What we learned

Throughout the project, we gained significant expertise in implementing React for the frontend and Firebase for backend services, including the intricacies of setting up authentication. We also honed our skills in troubleshooting and resolving bugs that arose from merge conflicts and became more proficient with git operations.

What's next for LoanLendz

We are looking forward to integrating StripeAPI to bolster identity verification processes, alongside incorporating payment functionalities via Plaid and Stripe. This advancement will enhance mutual trust among our users and foster a reliable transaction environment
