My younger sister (like so many teenagers in middle school, high school, and college) spends hours on social media, pulling her away from schoolwork. The content is just too engaging! Scrolling through TikTok gives a much faster hit of dopamine then doing schoolwork, and requires a much shorter attention span. Schoolwork simply isn't keeping up with the engagement level of the rest of the content young people are exposed to today.
