Inspiration

For some of us it is really hard to stay inside and miss all the nice adventures that you could experience outside. So we were trying to find a solution to bring this outside activities inside. In order to avoid zoos, museum, parcs etc., we want to build a virtual walk through this activities. This app shall support us to stay inside to prevent infecting corona and furthermore it shall bring the activities closer to people who cant enjoy them (old, sick people).

What it does

First you can choose from different activities like Zoo and Museum. If you choose Zoo for instance, a map will appear and you can tap on the different cages of the animals. Accordingly, it will show a lifestream of that animal in a Zoo. It will also show you which Zoo and animal it is. The other activities will follow the same system. StreaMap is available as an App (Android) or Webapp.

How we built it

Framework: Flutter with Web support.

Challenges we ran into

The main Challenges were the permission to publish and the time shift. We show live streams from all over the world, so it could happen that you just see a dark screen if u dont watch to the right time. Solution: get more than one lifestream and show the one where it is day time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finding an idea we actually liked and had a lot of fun building. StreaMap could still be a useful app even after the period of corona.

What we learned

We learned working together even if we have not the same knowledge to get the full potential for that project.

What's next for StreaMap

This project has big potential. We will extend it with a lot of other activities and try to simulate it as good as possible. One idea is to use VR for Rollercoaster in holiday parcs. The next step is adding the activity aquarium, museum and live concerts.
