Inspiration
Everyday we see some women who sacrificed their jobs for the sake of family or kids or we would see women being suppressed and not allowed to voice their opinions. We live in this fast moving society but still the mindset of people is far behind. This problem gave us an idea and step by step development of this idea gave rise to our app Liria - Bringing together. We found out that women face great difficulty in coming back for employment and realised that they lose their confidence after taking a break. Through our app we provide them with a means to regain their self confidence and help them in finding an opportunity suiting their skill set. We also help them to express themselves freely, because we do know that ideas and innovation comes from expressing the opinions freely and not by suppressing them. Considering all these problems and finding out small effective solutions, our app Liria was formed.
What it does
Our app Liria is mainly to empower the women section and upskill their talents and instill a sense of self confidence, leadership skills, and mould them into skilled workers.
We provide various sections like exploration, job opportunities, events, interest groups etc. Here anyone could create a valid event and others could either participate or take part as volunteers. It's mainly for women. It helps in developing their managerial skills and also their leadership skills. Also people could create job vacancy pages but we at Liria are in charge of checking for fraud so employers have to provide authentic documents only then will it be accepted. Also the job vacancy option will be visible only to the female and non-binary population. Our intention is pure and not create any sort of discrimination between men and women. Our only aim is to provide enough opportunity to women so that they come forward and use their skills. We also have a section known as interest group where many groups are already created and could be created if needed. It's done by considering a simple thing, women can't express themselves freely. If they do so it's considered a mistake. We encourage women to express their views freely without violating any rules or hurting anyone intentionally. With this simple thing that will be filled with a sense of confidence which will help them in future.
Our project brings together women 's power and helps them to face the world with a sense of belonging and satisfaction.
How we built it
Initially an abstract idea was developed after a session of brainstorming Then the idea was modified after a series of discussion where we discussed the drawbacks and future scope After finalising the idea a prototype was created using the software figma Finally the app was developed taking the prototype as the base idea
Challenges we ran into
Developing an idea and the transformation from idea to reality was much more challenging than what we had expected.The problem of fake job vacancy held us down for sometime. But we overcame this by verifying the documents provided by the employers. Verification process would be done by authorized Liria members only. This minimized the chances of leaking our members' details and the chances of them being cheated. Then came the problem of visibility of job opportunities to women only. This was solved by setting the job apply option to women only. We faced a lack of time. We all have worked hard and did our best. We took time in fixing our idea and couldn't complete the whole thing. Creating an app that gets noticed, making the app interactive, promoting and marketing are some other challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The project currently provides: A means to express freely Job opportunities disregarding the gender and only considering the skills Means to improve various interpersonal skills like communication, leadership, working together etc. Gain and share knowledge Participate in events and improving self confidence
What we learned
The things we learnt were innumerable. We never thought that we could learn in such a short time. Firstly, we learnt what a hackathon is and it was a really great learning journey in a short period of time. We learnt the basics of Figma, Flutter, Firebase and heard about many new things. The experience of working remotely as a team was something new to us and gave a lot of insights.
What's next for Liria
We plan to add quite a few more features in the future like: Adding a scholarship option Using ML finding emotion from chat and providing help. We intend to use a sentiment analyzer for the same.
