Inspiration

The project was inspired by the struggles of second-generation Hispanic immigrants who have difficulty connecting with their culture due to language barriers. The need to bridge the gap between cultural identity and language learning in a shame-free environment was a key motivator.

What it does

LinguaX is a VR language learning app that: Creates immersive cultural environments Features an AI tutor named Julia who guides conversations Uses a points-based system for learning progress (5pts for correct sentences, 10pts for relevant overall answers) Provides real-time feedback on language mistakes Offers progressive difficulty levels focusing on different aspects of culture and history

How we built it

Unity for VR environment AWS for Spanish transcription and text-to-speech LLMs for conversation processing Custom C# scripts for audio interaction and VR button functionality 3D modeling for various cultural settings Scoring system based on language proficiency
