Inspiration
In a world where effective communication is key, we understand the importance of good writing skills. Research has shown that difference of language can be one of the biggest obstacles in careers. Hiring an English coach or tutor can prove expensive and often isn't a viable option for non-native English speakers. We were inspired to fill this need by providing individuals with a tool that can make their writing sound native for no cost.
What it does
Lingual is an innovative program that takes in text or audio input from a user and analyzes the sentence structure with the help of pre-implemented Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms. By utilizing tools like TextBlob, NLTK, and Language Write, Lingual provides detailed insights into the composition of the user's writing. This allows users to understand the intricacies of their writing style and make improvements where necessary.
How we built it
Our team utilized the power of Python programming language to build the core of Lingual. We integrated NLP libraries such as TextBlob, NLTK, and Language Write to perform in-depth analysis of the user's input. We implemented various algorithms to dissect sentence structure and provide feedback to the user.
Challenges we ran into
Building Lingual was not without its challenges. Integrating multiple NLP libraries and ensuring they work cohesively was an uphill task. Additionally, handling different types of user input (text and audio) and transforming them into a format suitable for analysis presented a unique set of challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a comprehensive tool that not only analyzes text but also handles audio input. The integration of multiple NLP tools to work seamlessly is another accomplishment we take pride in. But above all, we are proud of the potential impact of Lingual on individuals seeking to improve their writing skills.
What we learned
Through the journey of building Lingual, we learned the intricacies of various NLP libraries and their applications. We also gained valuable experience in handling and processing different types of data. But most importantly, we learned the importance of perseverance and teamwork in the face of challenges.
What's next for Lingual
The future of Lingual is bright. We plan to incorporate more NLP tools and expand the range of analysis. Additionally, we aim to enhance our audio processing capabilities to provide more accurate analysis for audio inputs. We also plan to introduce a feature for personalized learning, where the tool learns from the user's progress and provides customized feedback.
