Inspiration

We wanted to make some kind of combat game, and LikKan kindly volunteered an image of himself which Logan masterfully edited into a game asset

What it does

LikKan Shootdown is a top down 2D shooter where the player character is chased by continually spawning LikKans out to get the player. Enemies drop coins on death, and the goal is to get the highest score possible before dying

How we built it

We decided to use the Godot game engine with GDScript as the scripting language, as one of our team members had had the engine recommended to him by a friend

Challenges we ran into

None of us were familiar with the engine or even game development, so starting with a full-fat game engine was challenging

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Fully working physics and scoring system in game

What we learned

How game engines structure objects and how to use them. Also, how to resolve many different kinds of conflicts in Git

Side Project

Additionally George felt inspired to make a similar game in Pygame. It uses a moving player as a ghost. The goal is to dodge the Pumpkins.
