Inspiration
Both of us have a history as student athletes and in the startup community. Startups struggle to hire good sales people and athletes have largely untapped networks. We think with the coming trend in Fair Pay 2 Play at the NCAA level that a lot of student athletes could be vulnerable, and we wanted to build something to help educate them to build a smart personal branding strategy for fair compensation.
What it does
We Designed a Tracking system using Cookies and webhooks to give credit to a specific influencer for introducing the product to one of their followers. When a sale is generated from one of these leads, the influencer receives a pre-negotiated commission. With enough commissions, the influencer can unlock incentive bonuses as significant as small stake equity in the company of the product.
How I built it
Node.js, SQL, Adobe XD
Challenges I ran into
Our team had really bad car trouble. First code wasn't written until a little after 8pm
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We're really proud that we could build a working product from scratch in the allotted time frame. Some decent CSS is a nice cherry on top.
What I learned
Planning makes life so much simpler. Communication is key. Executing the webhooks was a fun learning experience as well.
What's next for Likeness
Keep building, hopefully start the business, and then hopefully partner with organizations like GT Athletics, Beyond the Game, and so on to build great software tools for the next generation of student athletes.
