Inspiration
Timers have helped me become more productive over quarantine. I wanted to make a timer that gave visual signals so everyone knows when time is up, even if they cannot hear the alarm.
What it does
Takes time input from phone or computer. When time is up, the paper light will flash.
How we built it
Used Arduino to make light circuit. Connected Arduino to internet and collected user input with ESP8266 Node MCU board.
Challenges we ran into
First time using ESP8266 and unfamiliar with HTML get requests, so learning this was challenging and rewarding. Was originally going to use string of lights but the lights broke halfway through testing :(
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning about html, arduino, and the node mcu board. Also learned how to fold a few origami lamp shades!
What's next for Light Timer
Make time input more flexible, let the user input a precise time to set the timer to. Change the light to make it much brighter, hopefully, fix the string of lights.
