Inspiration

Lifting The Pyramid (LTP) was born during the 2020 MIT Hacking Health hackathon. The team identified the need to outsource non-specialized healthcare tasks and free up healthcare worker time in order to maximize the number of patients seen by providers and to give our providers more time to care for their physical and mental health. The need existed before the Covid-19 pandemic began and will continue on long after.

What it does

We recruit and screen our volunteers online. During the screening process volunteers are trained using our online courses. After being matched, volunteers undergo a virtual, live onboarding are ready to serve!

How I built it

The platform is web based and is still in its development stages.

Challenges I ran into

We ran into four main challenges: (1) What resources do we have to incentivize and help volunteers in the short term during the Covid-19 crisis (providing some kind of health insurance? monetary compensation?)? (2) We need to know what data to collect and in what format to assess the efficacy of our solution and identify areas for growth.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Winning team from MIT Hacking Health Covid Challenge.

What's next for Lifting The Pyramid

In the near future LTP hopes to register as an NPO and begin pilot our idea in a hospital setting.
