Inspiration

As high school students navigating the difficulties of life, we recognized a need daily decision-making and time management skills. Lifestylist was created to streamline the various choices we face each day, from fashion and budgeting to meal planning and task management. The inspiration for Lifestylist came from our own experiences:

  • Time Constraints: Balancing academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and personal life left us with little time for decision-making in areas like fashion and culinary.
  • Desire for Personalization: We recognized the value of personalized recommendations that align with individual preferences and lifestyles.
  • Efficiency Needs: We sought to create a tool that could enhance productivity and reduce decision fatigue in our daily lives.

What it does

Lifestylist is an AI-powered lifestyle assistant designed to streamline your day-to-day life. Here’s what it offers: Task Efficiency Booster: Creates personalized to-do lists and syncs them with your calendar, helping you stay organized and productive. Fashion Recommendations: Provides tailored outfit suggestions based on your style, budget, and current trends. It can also find affordable alternatives to expensive items or locate nearby stores selling specific products. TasteGenie Meal Planning: Generates personalized meal plans based on your dietary needs and preferences, complete with step-by-step recipes. By combining these features into one platform, Lifestylist simplifies decision-making and helps users save time while living their best lives.

How we built it

Building Lifestylist was a challenging yet rewarding process. We started by brainstorming the core features and identifying the technologies required to bring them to life. Using AI and machine learning, we developed algorithms for task management, fashion recommendations, and meal planning. For fashion recommendations, we incorporated computer vision to analyze product images and find similar items at lower prices or nearby stores. TasteGenie uses predictive algorithms to generate meal plans tailored to individual preferences and dietary needs. We focused heavily on user experience design to ensure that the app is intuitive and easy to navigate. Collaboration was key—we divided tasks among our team members based on their strengths in coding, design, and research. Despite our limited resources as high school students, we leveraged online tools, tutorials, and open-source libraries to build a functional prototype of Lifestylist.

Challenges we ran into

Developing Lifestylist wasn’t without its hurdles: Integrating Multiple Features: Combining task management, fashion recommendations, and meal planning into one platform required careful planning and coding expertise. Balancing Complexity with Simplicity: We wanted Lifestylist to be feature-rich without overwhelming users with too many options or a confusing interface. Connecting Different Languages: Successfully merging our Python back-end model with the front-end HTML code was a real struggle.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with Lifestylist: Successfully integrating AI-powered features across multiple lifestyle areas (tasks, fashion, food). Creating a user-friendly interface that makes complex functionalities accessible to everyone. Developing a platform that has the potential to genuinely improve people’s daily lives by reducing stress and saving time. Learning advanced coding techniques and teamwork skills despite being high school students with limited resources.

What we learned

This project taught us valuable lessons in both technical development and personal growth: Technical Skills: We gained hands-on experience with AI technologies like machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and computer vision tools. Collaboration: Working as a team taught us the importance of communication, delegation, and problem-solving together under tight deadlines. User-Centered Design: We learned how critical it is to design features based on user feedback to ensure the app meets real-world needs effectively. Resilience: Facing challenges like debugging errors or integrating complex systems showed us how important persistence is in achieving success.

What's next for Lifestylist

We’re excited about the future of Lifestylist! Here’s what’s next on our roadmap: Smart Home Integration: Expanding functionality by connecting Lifestylist with smart home devices for broader lifestyle management (e.g., syncing tasks with smart assistants). Advanced Personalization: Using deeper machine learning techniques to refine recommendations based on user habits over time. Community Features: Adding social features where users can share outfit ideas or recipes within the app's community space. Global Accessibility: Expanding language support and regional customization so users worldwide can benefit from Lifestylist. We’re committed to evolving Lifestylist into a truly comprehensive lifestyle assistant that adapts to your needs while making life simpler, more efficient, and more enjoyable!
