Inspriation.
We were inspired by how small daily habits feel insignificant in the moment, but compound into massive impacts over time. Whether it’s a daily coffee, hours on social media, or time spent learning a skill, those decisions add up in ways people rarely see clearly. We wanted to build a simple tool that makes those long-term effects visible.
What it does
LifeMap lets users enter a daily habit—like spending money or using time—and instantly see how it compounds over 1, 5, and 10 years.
The app shows:
Total time or money over time
Workweek or life equivalents
Investment growth for money-based habits
A visual chart and a “future headline” summarizing the impact
The goal is to turn everyday decisions into clear, visual outcomes.
How we built it
We built LifeMap as a web app using:
Next.js and React with TypeScript
Tailwind CSS for the interface
Client-side compounding calculations
We used Bolt and Lovable to speed up development, then refined the logic and design to make the app stable and demo-ready.
Challenges
Our biggest challenge was making the results feel meaningful, not just mathematical. Instead of only showing raw numbers, we converted results into things like workweeks or years of life to make the impact more real.
What we learned
We learned how to:
Build a full web app with modern tools
Turn real-world ideas into clear visualizations
Design for clarity and emotional impact
What’s next
Future versions could include:
Habit tracking over time
Personalized goals
Health and savings integrations
A mobile version for daily use
Built With
- next.js
- react
- tailwind
