What it does

The Lifeguard system sits in a pool, and when armed, alerts, via physical alarm, parents or anyone nearby if something has fallen into the pool. This device will sit in the water and use an accelerometer/gyroscope to detect ripples in the water, which would happen if something fell in. This system is only meant to be on and armed when there are no people actively using the pool, or else the alarm would be constantly going off. Since it detects when the water goes from still to rippled, it will detect if anything falls into the water when it’s not supposed to. We plan on using WiFi in order to connect the pool device and the alarm system together. If we have time we also want to try to make an app to digitally “arm” the pool sensor when it needs to be used. The in-pool system will utilize a solar panel on the top in order to always keep this system charged and ready to work. This will also make it easier to waterproof since the system won’t ever have to be opened after production, so it can remain sealed from water.
